Don't Judge a Professional by the Marketing Budget The recent reports surrounding Dashdot are a sobering reminder of something I've believed for a long time. A flashy website. A polished social media presence. Professional videos. Expensive advertising. A slick sales pitch. None of those things tell you whether a business is honest, financially sound, or genuinely acting in your best interests. Like many people in the property industry, I often looked at Dashdot's marketing and wondered how they could afford to spend what they did. The branding was impressive, the exposure was everywhere, and from the outside it looked like a huge success. Now, according to recent reports, hundreds of Australians are allegedly owed millions of dollars. If those reports are accurate, it's heartbreaking. These aren't faceless corporations losing money—they're everyday Australians. Mum and dad investors who worked hard, saved for years, and trusted professionals to help build their future. If you've been affected, my thoughts genuinely go out to you. This isn't just about one business. It's a reminder for anyone choosing a buyers agent, financial adviser, mortgage broker, accountant, or any professional who is responsible for helping you make major financial decisions. Ask yourself: How long have they been operating? What do past clients say after settlement, not just at sign-up? Are they transparent about their fees? Do they explain both the risks and the rewards?
