Our buyer’s agency core values

Our Core Values

Buyers agent core values

Good ‘day! It’s Heath and Simon from You&Me Personalised Property Services. And we just wanted to do a video on our core values. We’re a bit quirky, but they’re our core values. So I’ll get Simon to explain what our three core values are and what they mean to us and why we come up with them.

Why core values are important to us

It’s right. These core values are important to us. I think if you were to look at other companies or other real estate companies, other buyer’s agents, I feel that there’s a lot of other companies out there add core values that they want you to hear or that they feel you want to read about.

A unique buyer’s agency

Be authentic

When Heath and I created You&Me Personalised Property Services, we wanted everything to be uniquely ours, and we wanted everything to really be authentic and genuine so that we felt that if we’re always only us and we’re always authentic, we’re always genuine, and we say and do the things that we believe to be our truth will only ever attract the same people that are going to share our values and are going to, sort of gravitate towards us.

And that’s what we found.

So, you know, we only deal with 50 clients a year, so we don’t want everyone coming. We don’t want to be the biggest. We just want to be the best.

Our Buyer’s Agency Core Value 1: Winning

Winning with the client

We want to be authentic. And we were talking hours, probably days and weeks on especially one core value.

And so we’ll leading with that. It was Winning. Heath and I are incredibly competitive. We’ve played sport a reasonably high level, not high enough to get paid the big bucks but at a reasonably high level, we hate to lose. And when we came up with winning, we’re both looking at each other like: “How does this sound?”

People are going to think that’s an arrogant sort of core value. But, let me explain it in terms of that. The winning aspect has nothing to do with arrogance. It has nothing to do with us thinking that we’re better than anyone else. It has everything to do with what our company name is You&Me, Personalised Property Services.

So, winning is a core value. It’s all of us winning! We don’t win individually, we win with our clients. And winning could be getting it on the market value, exceeding a rental expectation, getting instant equity, getting a capital return on a development block. It could be a small win. Being able to help client.

It could just be a happy face at the end of a deal. That is a win!

Anything. Anything like that. So winning was really important core value to us and something that we hold very tightly.

Our Buyer’s Agency Core Value 2: Persistence

Working hard for the buyer

Our other core value, which really represents our personality, I guess more than anything, is persistence. Persistence to me is probably what I feel is our greatest quality. I think so, yeah. And when I talk about persistence, I mean, you know, when things are going good, it’s very easy to look good.

When things aren’t going good, when you’re faced with a challenge or you’re faced with no’s or a situation comes up that’s totally out of your control and it just knocks you back. It’s so easy to point the finger and start to blame other people or make excuses as to why you couldn’t get a deal done. But we don’t do that.

Like we literally roll up our sleeves and get out there and hit the pavement. An example of persistence would be: we find a perfect property for a client. There are multiple offers in the property. We are maxed out at a certain level because we know that the client can’t afford to go any higher. And even though we might see value in a little bit more, the client just can’t go higher (it’s the client’s brief).

Helping all types of property buyers in Australia

We’re faced with people that are trying to buy their own home.

Which we know, will pay a little bit more and we miss out on that home. The clients upset because they really wanted it. We were upset because we weren’t able to get that property in the price range that we had. It’s very easy to say: “Oh, look, guys, you’re going to have to increase your budget or you’re going to have to look at different suburbs because, you know, with the way the market’s going, if you’ve missed out this, you might not going to be able to get the next one.

But what Heath and I know with a combined 40 years of practical real estate experience is that when one home comes up for sale in the street, another two or three might will inevitably come out, whether it’s in that same street or off the other street.

And it’ll be comparable because the homeowners just realize what it’s sold. So we will literally go out and identify those properties and we’ll doorknock them and by door knocking them, it gives us the opportunity to talk to that homeowner before they’ve spoken to a selling agent, which means we’re saving them anywhere from 2% to 3% in commission and that 2% to 3% in commission they’re saving allows our purchasers to still get into the suburb, to still get into the right house and to still getting up their budget without having to compete.

Now this doesn’t happen all the time, but it is example of how we will be persistent. And you know, it’s a it’s a corny little saying, but persistence beats resistance and the harder you try, the luckier you get.

So that’s at two core values. And we’ve got our last one.

Our Buyer’s Agency Core Value 3: Integrity

Delivering on the promise

The third one: Integrity. You hear it a lot.

That’s probably the one that you do hear a lot. With a lot of different companies and you think, now everyone is the same, everyone got it.

What does that mean? But realistically, what it means for us at this time is everyone else is. We do what we say we’re going to do. So we’re delivering on the promise. But Simon’s got a really good saying about the integrity side of things.

For me, integrity, put simply, is doing the right things when no one’s watching. When you know something, when you know you’ve got a set of eyes on you, you’re always doing the right thing. But it’s when no one’s watching. Are you prepared to always do the right thing? To never, ever question your ethics or your morals, no matter what it is, what situation you put in, you’re always prepared to do the right thing.
